Estrogen is a metabolite of prasterone. Use of exogenous estrogen is contraindicated in women with a known or suspected history of breast cancer. INTRAROSA has not been studied in women with a history of breast cancer. Intravaginal prasterone administered daily for 12 weeks causes a marked improvement of all four aspects of women's sexual dysfunction. These beneficial effects are obtained in the absence of significant changes in serum sex steroids, thus indicating an exclusive local action without action on the brain or other tissues.
